GEAR Names Paul Deckers Assistant Vice President

Tequesta, FL (2007-02-27) – GEAR® Software, Inc., the DVD and CD recording software SDK and development company, announced today that Paul Deckers was appointed Assistant Vice President of Development and Product Management. Mr. Deckers will report directly to Gustav Karlsson, Vice President and CTO of GEAR.

Mr. Deckers originally joined GEAR's predecessor organization, Elektroson, in 1993, serving as Product Manager with responsibility for cradle to grave lifecycle management of the GEAR line of CD-Recording products. Mr. Deckers oversaw the successful launch of GEAR 4.0 on the Windows, Macintosh and UNIX platforms as well as GEAR Replicator 1.0 and GEAR Audio 1.0.

Mr. Deckers then moved to Philips in 1997 and their Optical Storage business unit in Belgium, serving as Application Support Manager. At Philips, in addition to market research on the application of CD-R/RW technology and available software applications, he was editor of the UDF Compatibility Test Specification within the OSTA organization.

In 1999, Mr. Deckers joined OnStream in Colorado, USA in the capacity of Product Manager with responsibility for cradle to grave lifecycle management of the Echo line of backup tape drives. At OnStream, he oversaw the successful launch of Echo 30GB USB drive, the Echo 30GB IEEE1394/FireWire drive and the Echo 30GB USB 2.0 drive.

Mr. Deckers joined Roxio in 2002. GEAR was fortunate when, after the difficulties that Roxio was undergoing, Paul decided to return home to the Netherlands.

Mr. Deckers rejoined GEAR in April of 2003 as Quality Assurance Manager. In February of 2005, he became Director of Product Management/UNIX and Linux Platforms.

Mr. Deckers will continue working from GEAR's European office in The Netherlands.
